Fall is in the Air at Emmanuel Lutheran School

The first quarter of school is rapidly coming to a close. Time flies when you are having fun! Emmanuel’s students in grades 3 – 8 will complete the Terra Nova tests the last week of September. These tests are given each fall and the results are used to better understand and serve the learners at Emmanuel Lutheran School. Our students do not participate in any special instruction other than the normal course of instruction in preparation for the tests. They are simply asked to do their best, demonstrating what they know. Once the test results are received, they are posted on the school website.

The fall sports season begins for our 5th – 8th grade students with volleyball for girls (coached by Miss Wempner and Miss Langer) and soccer for boys (coached by Pastor Ewart). Emmanuel plays in a league with eight other Lutheran schools in the greater Phoenix area, and the season runs through the middle of November. The children in grades one and two will be participating in a “home-and-home” t-ball series with Pilgrim Lutheran School during the month of October as well.

Other events for the month of October include…

Grades 3 – 5 singing at the 8am worship service on October 4,

Teacher In-Service Day on October 9 (No school for the students),

Report cards are issued on October 16, and

Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 26 and 29.

If you would like to know more about what goes on at Emmanuel Lutheran School on a daily basis, please feel free to stop by for a visit. We would love to have the opportunity to show you around your Lutheran elementary school. You can also visit the school website at www.elstempe.org. Each teacher has his/her own page which explains what that particular grade level is doing.

May God continue to bless our work together!
